Change Your Password

This page allows you to change your account password. The use of your password is important - and part of your member agreement with us.

Requirements

For your protection and ours, your password on Web Networks must fullfill the following conditions:

  • The password must contain at least 6, and no more than 8 characters
  • The password must NOT contain your username or your real name
  • The password must contain at least one letter, and at least one non-letter.

Non-letters include numbers and punctuation. Your password is cAsE sEnSiTiVe.

Suggestions

The goal is to pick something that is easy for you to remember, but difficult for someone else to guess. Here are some suggestions for creating your password:

  1. It is a good idea to come up with a short list of 2-3 acceptable passwords before you try to change your password.
  2. A good method for coming up with an acceptable password is to use an acronym. Come up with a short sentence that will be easy for you to remember, and then use the first letter from each word for your password. Insert a number or capital letter randomly into the sequence, and you have an excellent acceptable password.

For example: My daughter Heather was born in 1973.

We will take the first letter from each word, and keep the 73 from 1973 to give us:

    mdHwbi73

  3. It is important to remember that your password is case sensitive. If you are getting INVAliD LOGIN messages, you should check if your caps lock key is engaged which would invert the case.

Change Your Password

If you know your password, you can change it by visiting the Change Password administrative page.

In order to access the page, you will need to put in your username and current password. You will also be asked if you wish to accept a site certificate - this is required for the SLL secure connection that encrypts your password as it is sent over the Internet.

If you DON'T know your password, we can't tell you it, because we don't know it either. If you have lost your password, then please fax a request to us with a new password, following the restrictions above.

And finally - once your request has been accepted on our system, it may take up to 1 hr to propagate to all our machines, so you might not want to do this in the middle of a lot of Internet work.
