About Your Account

This page provides general information about how our services are billed to your account. Please see your member agreement for the complete text of your service agreement.

Your username is the basic unit of organization for accounts and services at Web Networks. Your username uniquely identifies your account and it's corresponding password serves to enable and direct the delivery of your services, ensure security for any requested changes, as well as to organize the billing of your services.

Your username is also called your Web username, Web UserId, account name, WebId, or login.

Billing

Your username identifies your account in our billing system. Your account must have at least one hosting plan (either a community membership, or one of the hosting packages), plus any other requested "a-la-carte" or add-on services billed to it.

Most services may be billed monthly or annually according to your choice - although for billing efficiencies we will not set up an account with services that result in a monthly billing of less than $20.

Services set up in the middle of a month are billed for that month on a pro-rated basis. Monthly services are billed on the first of each month for the following month. Annual services are billed on the first of the month following the setup date for the following year.

Service plans are automatically renewed until we receive a written request to cancel it. Any unused portion of a plan is refunded to the account (with the exception of the annual community membership). This refund is applied to other current or future service charges, unless the account is closed completely and we receive a request in writing for the refund.

An account may be "guaranteed" by another account. This means that the guarantor account pays for the service charges incurred by the guaranteed account. Typically, when an organization wishes to pay for several accounts, one username is chosen as the parent username, and all other accounts (the "child accounts") are guaranteed by this parent account. The parent account is normally billed for all the services provided to it and to it's children's accounts. Specific services may be added to the child account and not guaranteed by the parent account if desired. A parent account and all its children are often collectively called a billing group.

By default, your billing is sent by e-mail to username@web.net e-mail account. You can request it to go to any other e-mail address, or for a fee of $2.50/bill we can print and mail it.

Service Delivery

Each username has an account on Web's computer network. This network of UNIX servers is the technical foundation of the services that we offer. A UNIX account is often called a "login".

Your username account on our mail servers is enabled for e-mail service with the e-mail address username@web.net.

Your username account on our primary www server has a corresponding website with the URL http://www.web.net/~username. This site serves the contents of your "public_html" sub-directory.

Other services, for example dial-up Internet access and virtual domain services, may be enabled for your username according to the service plan and a-la-carte services you have chosen.

When you call or e-mail requests to our User Support Team, you must tell us your username and have available your password on request.

Your choice of password is important. Once we've set it up, we have no way of finding out what it is. If you forget your password, we can change it to a new one of your choice. You are responsible for any use of your services accessed with your username/password combination.

Service Changes

Request for a change to your service must be made in writing, either by e-mail or fax.

Requests that do not involve additional charges, such as password change requests, must be confirmed in writing by the owner of the account as listed in our billing system.

Service requests involving additional charges (change of plan, addition of new services, etc.) must be confirmed by the owner of the account that pays for it. For a single or parent account, this is the owner of the account as above. For a child account, any service being billed to the parent must be confirmed or requested by the parent.
